Introducing Rock Empire harnesses
In the summer of 2010, I returned to the Alps after a year’s absence to finish my personal Alp trilogy. While packing. I had a dilemma: which climbing harness should I take? Amongst my climbing gear, I had two harnesses – both from Rock Empire: the sport harness Sirion and the 3-buckle Guardian. I thought about the program for the next month and realized that I would spend more time on the wall than sport climbing. So I chose the Guardian, which I also used a year before while sitting on belay and felt as happy as a newborn baby in a dry diaper. I discovered I made the right decision during my first climb, the Emperor’s New Clothes (Wilder Kaiser, Austria). This route is pretty pendulous with not a lot of places for resting your feet. I had quite a hard time on the wall, and there were a lot of falls. Thanks to the superior cushioning and design of the Guardian, I didn’t have the bruising on my waist and legs that I have had with other harnesses. Outfitted with great equipment, I made good progress, and, after 5 days, I successfully finished and was able to celebrate being only the 3rd person in the world to climb the Alpine Trilogy. I am already planning my future trips and know I will take Rock Empire’s new, improved 3 buckle harness, Arkas, with me.
